US Senator Chris Murphy says that Donald Trump has “lost control” of the war on Iran, adding that the war has pushed the Middle East into a dangerous escalation.

Murphy says Washington underestimated Tehran's ability to retaliate, pointing to threats to the Strait of Hormuz, rising oil prices, and Iran's extensive use of drones and naval tactics that could disrupt global shipping.

He also warns the war could widen as groups aligned with Iran in Lebanon, Iraq, Yemen and Syria become involved.

Murphy adds that Trump has “no endgame” for the war and urges the administration to end the war before it leads to a larger regional disaster.
