not in a million years do i think voting is the only thing we have to do
on the contrary people who think we do everything necessary, except voting, are complete fools. because voting is merely another useful tool in the fight. to forsake it is stupid
also i don't think "false hope" is the most accurate term here because the same "false hope" motivates protests and general strikes. i think the most accurate terminology here is "determination" or "tenacity"

It’s frustrating that people will take any excuse to not do anything difficult right now if they think they can wait for something to come along and solve it for them. Arguably, the way voting systems are set up is to stifle direct action - it’s why incumbents who were voted in on 30% of the electorate talk about mandate. Leave us be - we were voted in.
Some people consider voting to be as difficult as torture
A lot of it is contrived bullshit but there is a large group in the #USA who think of voting as "with this #vote, I do thee wed"
As if their vote is a statement of absolute ideological conformity, a statement of their utmost identity, a fucking romance
A vote is nothing more than a piece of strategy in a larger longer fight
Even motivated by vandalism or sabotage it matters. To not vote is abject stupidity
