A grassroots group of volunteers called Safe Haven has been doing nearly round-the-clock jail support for everyone released from Whipple, providing medics, rides, food, clothes, phones.
Last night, Safe Haven handled jail support alongside friends and family members of ICE observers and community members who had been detained by DHS after the murder of Alex Pretti.

The situation at Dilley detention centre in Texas hasn't improved. Attorney Eric Lee was given a drawing made today by a 5 year old girl (a member of the El Gamal family, who've been held there for eight months despite having committed no crime).
This child turned 5 in detention and has spent almost 20% of her life in jail.

Footage of Sunday's protest, which drew attention to the situation at the detention centre, has emerged.
Also in Texas, people at the Prairieland ICE Concentration Camp outside of Dallas, TX are freezing to death as ICE refuses to turn on the facilities heating despite it being 13Β°F (8Β°F with wind chill).
The same is happening in centres across the country, including New York.

Following the murder of Alex Pretti, a woman who survived five gunshots from a Border Patrol agent in Chicago, only to be criminally charged and then cleared, now wants a judgeβs permission to share records showing how the feds respond when agents use deadly force.
