Interesting on street sign removal. Probably not as effective today because of Internet mapping tools, but if things really fall apart, seems like you should take your street signs down.
"...On the streets, Czech citizens engaged in non-violent resistance, taking down street signs to confuse the invaders, confronting tanks with offerings of flowers and shouted, โIvan Go Home!โ
Warsaw Pact troops fatally shot more than 100 peaceful protestors. ..."
@ai6yr In the 90's my college jazz band took a summer tour of Europe, including The Netherlands, France, Switzerland, and Germany. Before the trip, we got a few hours of language tips from some native speakers along with cultural background of the countries.
The guy from The Netherlands told us that the people were very friendly, and "nowadays" they were happy to give directions. I asked what he meant.
He said that, as a kid in the 50's and 60's, his folks told him very sternly that if he met someone on the street with a German accent, he was to play dumb and to either give directions east or towards the train station.
In a lot of the world, resistance is as much a part of the culture as food or music. In America, we're having to learn it all over again.
