Can anyone recommend a simple program for compressing video files?
The current files are in mp4 format with a size of 1920 × 1080.
They are clocking in at about 2.5 GB per hour, which I'd like to reduce while still having them at a reasonable quality for online viewing via desktop or mobile.
@blag No doubt people have recommended Handbrake and +1 to that.
But I also want to recommend LossLessCut (free, all platforms) for basic edits, trimming videos, highlighting segments, etc.
@onekind Ooh, that sounds handy. I used to use VirtualDub for that but I think that's Windows only.
@lunarloony VirtualDub sounds like a clunky but powerful multifunction tool... LossLessCut is the opposite — slick and easy to use, but it reveals the complex things you can do with simple tools
@onekind I wouldn't call it clunky, but it's certainly Of Its Timeâ„¢.
@lunarloony I also use Avidemux which is like a video editor was designed by the Fediverse, lol.
