For #ThrowBackThursday here's a photo from my wife's side of the family simply labelled "Sam and colleagues". I don't know who Sam is but I love the photo and the bus is interesting. Browns Blue was a Leicestershire-based bus company that operated from 1924 to 1963. The apostrophe in the bus company logo here dates this to before 1954.

Scan of a black and white photo from the late 1940s or early 1950s. We're on a wide, largely empty road with trees mostly devoid of leaves lining the left side just back from the pavement. On the right there's a hedge behind a railing and a brick building that's clearly public toilets as we can just see the word "Gentlemen" on a sign. Parked on the side of the road in front of us is a bus with the driver's cab projected slightly in front at the left. Above it there's a sign that reads "Brown's Blue" and another on the right side reads "Private". The bus driver is leaning out of his cab window towards the centre part of the bus and smiling towards us over the heads of fourteen people posing for the photo. A man and woman are crouched down in front while everyone else stands behind in a staggered line with one man standing on part of the bus bumper to get height. There are only a couple of other women with everyone else men and five men are wearing brimmed hats, four of those hats being white. All the men are wearing trousers and jackets and shirts, with only one not wearing a tie.

@neonbubble They look like the sort of crew who might have invented radio astronomy or figured out how to mass produce vaccines.
