@spiegelmama by coincidence, I happened to have also installed Bazzite this week. Running it right now. What seems to be the problem?
@jared It doesn't seem to have installed correctly. And yes, I know it's my fault. Here's the error message on boot.
Booting 'Bazzite (ostree:0)'
error: ../../grub-core/kern/efi/sb.c:192:bad shim signature.
error: ../../grub-core/loader/i386/efi/linux.c:260:you need to load the kernel first.

@jared Back when we were able to at least load the OS, we got this error message.
Installation failed
The installer cannot continue due to a critical error

@spiegelmama not sure on that one yet, but while you are in the bios disable fastboot just in case. I assume Windows was or is still also installed on there? Apparently, there are instances where fastboot doesn't completely shut down Windows, and it still has control of the networking.
@spiegelmama curious, do you know the model number of the laptop?
@spiegelmama Ah, this most helpfully is mentioned here: https://docs.bazzite.gg/General/issues_and_resolutions/#no-wi-fi-or-wired-connection-in-bazzite-when-dual-booting-with-windows
@jared Thank you for talking me down! I was panicking not a little. Right now the laptop has crashed, possibly due to overheating? I'm letting it rest for a little while and then hitting it with this new knowledge. Woof! This is not easy. I guess I didn't expect it to be, but it's much harder than I thought. Guess there's a reason people don't switch much. 😁
If I can get this done, and do a dual boot on my laptop, I'll go out into the world and be an angel of knowledge. Glad I at least know to photograph any error messages.
@spiegelmama that does narrow it does a lot. Don't know much about the Alienware line, but on quick glance the possible models configs they all seem to be essentially identical apart from the graphics card. That will simplify any additional research
