El gobierno de EE. UU. acusó a Adobe de ocultar tarifas por cancelación anticipada y de obligar a los usuarios a pasar por pantallas confusas y procesos innecesarios para poder darse de baja. Tras casi dos años de litigio, la compañía aceptó un acuerdo millonario.
El acuerdo: ¿qué incluye?
• 150 millones de dólares en total. 75 millones serán pagados directamente al Departamento de Justicia.
• 75 millones se entregarán en créditos y servicios gratuitos para los clientes afectados.
¿Qué alegaba el gobierno?
• Que Adobe no revelaba claramente la tarifa por terminación anticipada en los planes anuales con pagos mensuales.
• Que el proceso de cancelación estaba diseñado para ser deliberadamente complicado, con pasos adicionales y pantallas que inducían al usuario a quedarse.
• Que la empresa colocaba a los usuarios en sus planes más rentables por defecto, sin explicar adecuadamente los términos.

La compañía niega haber actuado mal, pero aceptó el acuerdo para cerrar la demanda presentada en 2024 y “seguir adelante”.

Keine Ahnung was andere Leute mit einem PDF Reader alles machen, aber ich will nur Dokumente lesen, die mir andere zusenden / die ich herunterlade. So besch**** sieht der Adobe Reader heutzutage aus. Überfrachtet mit Werbung und KI Gedöns. Zum Glück verteilen die Kollegen auch PDF24 unter Windows, gleich mal das Standard Programm geändert.

It's probably not a wild thing to say that we all hate Adobe and similar giant companies that make art software that:
1. Doesn't work on linux,
2. Could probably disappear tomorrow without any warning, taking all our projects with it and
3. Requires expensive subscriptions

Übrigens, mal ein Tipp für Leute die eine Alternative zu #Adobe #Lightroom suchen. Ich verwende seit Jahren am PC Luminar Neo ... Habe mir jetzt kürzlich auch die #Android Version gekauft und bin voll zufrieden.
Ja ich würde schon sagen, LR ist mächtiger als Luminar - aber für den Privat- und Hobbybereich durchaus eine solide Software (made in EU).

What Adobe is doing with the cancellation of Animate should be illegal. Animators are livid atm.
Unfortunately most foss tools aren't as good as Animate to replace it (no, Grease Pencil doesn't quite do the same and Krita/Synfig/Pencil2d/OpenToonz aren't as feature-rich), but Moho is an excellent piece of software. First created for the #BeOS back in 1999, I remember using it back then. In 2007 it even had a #Linux version.
