Not getting reactions on your posts?

The fediverse has no algorithm, so new accounts don't get passive reach.

You need to use hashtags so people can find you, and interact with others. Reply, boost, discuss. The more you put in, the more you get back.

Unlike big tech socials, posts here get traffic for months after being posted. Give it time and engage with like minded people, and you'll find it's genuinely healing compared to what you came from.

Noise Bullseye

Experimenting with semi-random noise in Processing. In this generative art piece I programmed it so that each pixel has a random lightness and the lightness is biased towards a certain value. That value is determined by the sine function, which is plotted in polar coordinates.

You'll notice that there are rings of pure black... This is due to the value of the sine function being zero (I used sin( r/20 ) + 1 so the the area where the sine is zero is stretched out) and the fact that the lightness of each pixel is obtained by multiplying by the sine function. So the lightness of these pixels is a random value multiplied by the sine at that location, which ends up being zero.

I like how the result ended up looking like a 3D styrofoam bullseye.

I'll never shut up about the fediverse needing better algos (they can be optional or on a different page or smth) even loops that got one is not really good (video not in my language or the same person 10x in my feed).

See how to produce screenshots is just one line of code, and the `contentScale` argument results in 3x resolution, so the window is 800x800 pixels and the screenshot is 2400x2400 pixels).

I received an email for an old facebook account that I haven't used for years that used to be used just to post local community groups with functional information about public transport (road closures, route diversions, new timetables/fares etc, really riviting stuff - designed to be functional and practical - never engaged in discussions) So as someone who is interested in public transport but hasn't been around for a while they have decided to think I might want to join...
