after learning that the #Android #novalauncher has been bought, and immediately added Facebook and Google ad tracking... I uninstalled it.
now trying #niagralauncher and so far it's going really well, I tried this in the past and it didn't gel with me... but this time, yeah, it's nice.
if you haven't yet heard about the Nova Launcher thing, the message is clear... if you are using it, stop, uninstall, figure something else out, literally anything is now better.
So I've tried multiple Mastodon/Fediverse clients on Linux desktop, but so far the selfhostable web UI #phanpy seems to be the best fit for me :)
On #Android I usually go for #Tusky - it just feels more polished than the official #Mastodon Android app in some aspects.
Not criticizing anyone or anything, just sharing my experiences with alternative clients!

Me gusta imaginar las conversaciones en las sesiones de estrategia y desarrollo de software como si fueran un titular de Xataka: «he encontrado la solución definitiva para evitar el caos en los grupos de WhatsApp, etiquetar a sus miembros».
Ojo, no estamos hablando de ocultar la identidad real porque la etiqueta aparecerá junto al nombre que tengamos en nuestro perfil de WhastsApp. Ni tampoco son etiquetas de rol como Discord o XMPP donde se jerarquiza a los miembros desde la administración. Estamos hablando de apodos, pseudónimos o tags con los que quieres que se refieran a ti y será una elección personal, editable e independiente para cada grupo. Por eso mi conclusión es que no es totalmente inútil pero tampoco le cambiará la vida a mucha gente.

I am a bit all over the place, and do not blindly follow any specific dogma. I have my thing. It's not everybody's thing, but that's okay. Everybody else has their thing. It may not necessarily be my thing, but that's okay. Whatever your thing is, may it bring you comfort and peace of mind. Just don't be a wanker.
I am very pro Fediverse, and pro FOSS. Technology can be very cool and wondrous, if we choose to make it that way. I'm a Linux user, and have shed all but two mainstream social media platforms. I am attempting to de-google my life. I am VERY anti-AI.

I played with my mastodon client on Android a bit, trying new ones, uninstalling, reinstalling, and my notifications stopped working. If this happens to you, long tap on the application icon, tap details, storage and cache, wipe everything. It worked for me.
Also, it helps to clean up a bit on the authentification tokens in the mastodon settings on the web. I hadn't done that in a long time.

Hace años que no usaba /e/OS y a mejorado bastante. La tienda de aplicaciones ahora es un fork de Aurora store. Y permite instalar tambien desde repositorios F-droid.

Searching for hackers (hacker: anyone that likes making technology do what wasn't intended) to build a community for jailbreaking MR headsets
Chat anyone interested in glitching Mixed Reality headsets ? I'm trying to build a community so we can get something done, as there's a bunch of folks that wanna charge money for it and I don't really like that idea x3.
The main SoC is XR2 by Qualcomm, it is an ARM SoC, and most of the headsets run very locked-down Android.
The goal here is to try to jailbreak it so we can run custom, fully open source software on it, possibly even mainline drivers to Linux and run something like #postmarketos :)
Unfortunately I am a systems hacker, I am hopeless when it comes to electric engineering anything, so I cannot actually pull off glitching myself. I can help with the stuff that comes after, such as mainlining drivers, though :)

Nova Launcher: Neuer Besitzer äußert sich zur Zukunft
Der beliebte Nova Launcher lebt bei einem neuen Besitzer weiter. Der hat sich zur Zukunft des alternativen Android-Launchers nun zu Wort gemeldet.
Esto me recuerda: si usáis un smartphone con #Android (o cualquier SO derivado de #AOSP)
1. Marcad en el dialer *#*#4636#*#* (algunos forks propietarios deshabilitan el menú que lanza esta marcación; si no os sale, pasad al paso 3)
2. En los ajustes que os saldrán, buscad Set preferred network type y seleccionad NR/LTE (5G y 4G respectivamente) o LTE only si no contáis con 5G.
3. Como extra, en Ajustes > Redes e Internet, si os sale el menú Seguridad de redes móviles, marcad la Protección de redes 2G.
Si usáis #GrapheneOS, la opción de seleccionar solo 4G y/o 5G las podéis encontrar también en Ajustes > Redes e Internet > SIMs > {$operadora} > Tipo de red preferido
De paso, activad #VoLTE y #VoWiFi si no lo tenéis aún.
La infra telefónica sigue siendo insegura y se debe considerar no confiable: esto es solo reducción de daños al deshabilitar #2G y evitar sus múltiples inseguridades salvo cuando llaméis a Emergencias, que bajará a 2G independientemente de toda esta configuración.

Ahora que parece que la migración a mi instancia se ha completado es el turno de presentarme...
Me gano la vida como programador #Android tanto con #Kotlin como con #Java, aunque también "domino" otros lenguajes como #PHP o #Javascript y me defiendo con #Swift, #C y otros muchos. También me peleo con mi servidor, y poco a poco voy pasándome al #selfhosting.
Me gusta la #música (casi cualquier género), el #cine (sobre todo terror y ciencia-ficción) y las #series (ciencia-ficción mayormente).
