Also, most Bluesky users are coming from the U.S and then some countries like Brazil, Japan, and more. In Indonesia itself, Bluesky does have the same fate as the fediverse, being a minority. Well, centralisation still matters these days for anybody who doesn't give a damn about the social interactions.

Posted into THE FEDIVERSE VS. CORPORATE SOCIAL MEDIA @the-fediverse-vs-corporate-social-media-mobileatom
Once again, I humbly come to you to ask: do you know of any bloggers that write regularly about the #Fediverse, #ActivityPub, #ATproto, or anything of that nature?
As the network grows, it feels like it’s harder and harder to find individual voices and perspectives. If you’re writing stuff about the network, its evolution, the culture, and the people on it, I’m interested in following you.
Funny how building an ActivityPub plugin for #indiekit fully based on Fedify, migrating my Mastodon account to my own server @rick@rmendes.net and building my own UI to consume AP content from the #Fediverse made me use even more than before.
This post is simultaneously a blog post, an #ActivityPub object in the inbox of my followers and a syndicated post to Bluesky.
Next in line? getting inspired by #Wafrn and turn this indiekit/AP instance into my own #Bluesky Pds.
Trying to better understand ATproto and Activitypub similarities and differences.
People here with recent reading/listening/watch tips?

Happy to share the good news of another @publicspaces conference happening this year!
Join us on June 4, 5 and 6th in Amsterdam.
Looking forward to work on this once again 😄

Is ATProto finally decentralised now?
I signed up for eurosky.social as my PDS server and defined a domain as my handle. It was way easier and smoother than any decentralisation attempt in the Fediverse. I could easily decide to move to a self-hosted PDS without fear of losing my connections or other transition debt.
Bluesky's quasi-centralisation stays problematic. But we also have a large elephant in the room over here.

I've written a fully complete #ActivityPub server in 64KB.What's the smallest *entirely self-hosted* PDS for #ATProto?gitlab.com/edent/activi...

If you have a "Share on Bluesky" sharing button on your website, and you only link to bsky.app, you might want to think about how to accommodate people who use witchsky.app, or blacksky.community, and soon a Northsky version.
Attending the 'Growing the Open Social Web' online get-together by @fediforum.
Always nice to have the chance to talk with people (👋 @benpate) on the possibilities of the 'Open Social' web and learn from each other.

#Eurosky appears to just be an #ATProto PDS still entirely dependent on #Bluesky infrastructure components.
It is not an independent decentralized service.
So they say #Eurosky proves that #ATproto really is decentralised and can be independent of #Bluesky (the company) and by extension American Big Tech.
Curious, I asked for an account and after waiting a few days received the instructions to create one:
"1. Go to Bluesky and click the ‘Create account’ button [...]"
Err...

Almost 60% would at least consider trying BlueSky on a EU server, in a poll created on Mastodon.
Migration complete. 🚀💾

Bluesky and Wide Decentralization
Contrary to current perceptions, Bluesky can not be widely decentralized because full independence on AT Protocol simply costs too much. This is not something that can be fixed. It is based on the inherent architecture of the protocol.
All ATProto components rely on some very expensive network resources, accordingly there will never be very many, making these resources points of centralization.

This weeks project: https://fitsky.app, a social workout logger for #Bluesky users
Right now you can:
- log and track workouts
- create workout plans
- track metrics
- share any of it to Bluesky
Features to come:
- Apple/Google health integration
- GPS for runs/rides
- prettier workout posts
Tangled · tightly-knit social coding
「 We envision a place where developers have complete ownership of their code, open source communities can freely self-govern and most importantly, coding can be social and fun again 」
Observations:
Today #bigtech social media looks & feels like TV to me. Consume whatever each platform owners' algorithms serve.
#ATProto's ecosystem seems focused on reach & broadcasting. #ActivityPub's ecosystem seems focused on interaction. Is this the diff between #SocialMedia Vs #SocialNetworks? Newschool vs Oldschool Internet?
Would be nice if these #protocols become interoperable. Technically solvable, but I wonder are the 'cultures(?)' interoperable as well? Thoughts?
Blacksky has already built their own ATProto stack that's fully independent from Bluesky.
Now Eurosky is making progress as they roll out their own PDS.
I see more independent infrastructure springing up on https://atp.fyi/network, including AppViews.
For anyone hoping that we'll get another wave of people coming to the fediverse once Bluesky folds/enshittifies, that might not necessarily be the case as people will have more options to stay in the Atmosphere.
The For You Page algorithm is not strongly influenced by the accounts you follow… You cannot see who has left, because it is very hard to build a stable sense of who was there in the first place.”
