Since there has been a huge influx of new users, I decided to write a new #Introduction and actually pin it to my profile.
I'm pushing 50 years old and I live in a Red State that is trying to make me illegal. I'm a #pansexual / #bisexual #transgender woman married to a heterosexual cisgender woman who frequently talks about the current hellscape for people like me in my Toots.
I'm #NeuroDivergent / #ND which is probably why all of these sentences start with "I".
I've worked in #InfoSec for a little over 20 years. I've had lots of roles in #SecEng, #SecOps, and #ThreatManagement. I taught myself #Perl, #Bash, #SQL, and #PowerShell. I'm decent at #JavaScript. I can read #Python and #Ruby. I enjoy automating things and turning manual processes into scripts.
I've been the primary #CareGiver to my wife for 8 years since she developed a chronic condition and went on disability.
My hobbies including #writing #paranormal short fiction, journaling my #dreams, and playing #PCGames on my laptop and #SteamDeck.
I prefer #StarGate over #StarTrek over #StarWars. Still waiting for Amazon to do something, anything with the Stargate property.
While we loved the #ArrowVerse including #Stargirl and #SwampThing, in general we prefer #Marvel over #DC.
I'm a fan of #Horror / #HorrorFam, #HorrorMovies and #HorrorBooks, especially the existential dread of #CosmicHorror or #LovecraftianHorror. I tend to sympathize with the nameless terrors. I am not a fan of mindless slashers, unrelenting gore, or torture porn. Over-the-top, egregious gore that crosses into the absurd is fine, though, so I am a Sam Raimi fan, obvs. Also, #HorrorComedies are underappreciated.
I'm slowly reconnecting with my #Pagan roots. I knew some stuff about #Tarot and had a friend who as a tree a lifetime ago and I'm trying to rekindle that.
We've got #Cats and they are our kids. I also happen to love #Frogs, but we don't have any of those.

After two and a half years, it's time for an #IntroductoryPost

Hi Everyone!

I've been meaning to do this since I migrated from the bad site in November 2022. I may be guilty of procrastination from time to time. Anyway.. I started on mastodon.social, migrated to mastodon.lol (RIP), briefly ran my own mastodon instance and then migrated to the mighty beige.

I'm a middle-aged, white, #bisexual, #polyamorous, cisgender male and deal with #BPD, #anxiety, and #depression. I live on the outskirts of what I lovingly call the "Mormon Vatican". I self-medicate with #cannabis to maintain emotional regulation. I live with my partner who struggles with #CPTSD, crippling anxiety, depression and BPD tendencies; and also with our obese, codependent #BorderCollie. I almost compulsively use profanity. My content is probably not suited for younger viewers.

My partner is currently unable to work due to the aforementioned conditions. We're currently between residences and have been staying in an extended-stay style hotel while my partner recovers from a recent toxic living situation.

Meanwhile, I put every ounce of my #spoons into poverty-wage #retail. I simply don't have the stamina to work a second job.

Our goal is to be moved into permanent housing in the next 60 days, in large part because this motel costs more than my entire monthly wage income (including a recent rate hike of over $350/mo), and any expenses beyond that have unfortunately been the burden of the #MutualAid community.

Essentially, we've been "making a living from panhandling" because written content and curation by amateurs like myself generally isn't a lucrative endeavor, and I'm always too damned tired to pursue podcasting or vlogging.

If you're someone morally opposed to seeing a #MutualAidRequest in your timeline (or wax pedantic about the etymology and perversion of the term being used in this manner instead of "begging"), you'll probably want to disengage at least for the immediate future. On the other hand, you've likely already muted the terms and therefore won't even be able to see this post, so..

Somehow there are still people who have put up with our begging and "grifting". I would guess their motivation is sort of like a Simpsons quote that seemed particularly appropriate for our situation:

If you couldn't already gather, I'm a hardcore, bleeding-heart #progressive. I'm also a deeply-flawed, hypocritical poser about all those things a la Brian Griffin on "Family Guy". I try to divert my views and rants about this to my secondary account @LibertyForward1.

I boost *a lot*. That post average on my profile? It's not an exaggeration; it's updated automatically at midnight local time. Expect an avalanche of #cat pics, #dog pics, other interesting animal pics, and metric (not imperial) shittons of #shitposts. I love weird, vulgar, and silly. I'll almost always boost a #DadJoke if it's sufficiently cringe.

Also.. Brevity isn't my strongest suite.

Hola! Me ha costado mucho decidirme a dar este paso pero, finalmente, ahí van unos cuantos datos sobre mí... #introducción #presentación...
Tengo 34 años. Llevo varios años opositando para #AyudanteDeMuseos.
Mis aficiones principales son el #cine, los #libros, la #música, los #videojuegos de los 90-00, la #escritura y el #senderismo, aunque no puedo dedicarme a nada de todo ello tanto como me gustaría porque también trabajo a ratos.
Otras cosas que me definen es que tengo #altasensibilidad y que hace poco que me identifico ante los demás seres como #bisexual (de hecho, esta es mi salida del armario más grande hasta la fecha ).
Este espacio es nuevo para mí (aunque ya llevo un tiempo observando) y me gustaría que fuera un lugar seguro para expresarme y compartir, y también para encontrar gente bonita.
