Attended a local #cryptid festival recently, the first I've ever been to. They had a biiiig vendor hall with tons of cute merch and half a dozen speakers.
What I noticed from the speakers I watched:
One was very much a bloodhound, following up every lead, tracing back every article to find the truth, no matter how disappointing.
Another had a science background and would view every sighting/legend through that lens.
The last was 'I heard about this cool thing! Lemme tell you!!' No analysis.
Cadborosaurus is a sea serpent with a horse-like head that has been reported in many parts of Vancouver Island, BC - most famously Cadboro Bay, Victoria. People have claimed that various carcasses that have washed ashore are a cadborosaurus, but most turn out to be whales or sharks.
