It occurred to me that I have never made an #introduction post since being on #Mastodon.
I'm a 40-something #dad to 2 kids. I work as a #software #developer. I #cycle. I use #linux and #selfHost software when I can (including Mastodon). We have a #shitzu.
I'm into #scifi (like #StarTrek and #StarWars) and #anime (but don't judge me because I often watch the dubbed versions). I've watched all the #Marvel #movies and #TVseries that have been released for home viewing.

Look... my main hobby is #hamradio which is all about making magic radio pixies fling off of wires and catching the pixies others fling around. It's a big #hobby with all kinds of #fun things to learn and explore.
I also do other stuff like read #history and #scifi, #hike up mountains, use #oxfordcommas, and ride my #bicycle to work. I'm also a #dad of a 10yo human and a #husband. Life's hard and too short... I try to be #nice and #learn while I'm here.

I've been into #skateboarding over half my life, actively #skating on/off (family & career), I know the culture well, and understand the complexity/difficulty levels of tricks and obstacles decently. Thus, I feel fit to gauge reactions to skateboard-stuff.
I've seen "battles" with tricks before -they're dramatic, exciting, and intense... but this one brought #tears to my eyes - I am not sure if the common #dad element did it, or simply the sheer #treFlip down #elToro.
Since the tubes seamed to be whole, I kept it for 14 years in a box full of other stuff, but this year me and my dad took a look at it to see if we could fix it.
My dad is a much better electronics engineer than I am and he figured out the issue and got it working, and for my birthday he presented me with this gorgeous case made out of a piece of wood complete with rerouted electrical connections and control switch.
I love it, we both built it and I am soo happy for it!

Father's day is always bittersweet because my dad passed away 19 years ago.. (the baby in his arms is me :)) The last 10 years of his life was riddled with health issue after health issue and he left my mom a widow at 60 years old (I'll be 60 next March) He was really smart and had a dry wit with a smattering of goofball (I get the goofball from him) I miss him. Even after all these years. I'm thankful for the time I did have with him. #fathersday #happyfathersday #dad #today
