The hardest part of self-hosting email isn't the setup — it's deliverability.
You need: SPF, DKIM, DMARC, rDNS, a clean IP, and patience. Even then, Gmail might decide your mail is spam.
Honest take: self-host everything except email unless you really know what you're doing.
RFC7208 aka SPF experts! Please clarify this for me:
RFC allows adding a subnet mask to a and mx mechanisms. The examples section lists the following:
v=spf1 mx/30 mx:example.org/30 -all
Which means with respect to the sender IP address resolve A or AAAA for target domain (implicit in mx/30) and apply the subnet mask. This would mean that the same mask is defined for both IPv4 and IPv6 depending on the MX server IP.
This sounds like trouble, for example, if I have a dual stack MX server, any mask value over 32 would break my SPF policy if the server send the email over IPv6. Are there any advantages to this? Are people using this? What am I missing here?

Warum ich 1000 E-Mail-Adressen nutze - und warum Du das auch tun solltest
Die meisten Menschen nutzen eine einzige E-Mail-Adresse für alles: Online-Shops, Foren, Newsletter, Apps und soziale Netzwerke. Klingt praktisch – ist aber ein Sicherheitsproblem. Denn sobald diese Adresse in einem Datenleck landet, verbreitet sie sich unkontrolliert im Netz. Spam, Phishing und dubiose Werbung sind dann nur eine Frage der Zeit.
Ich gehe einen anderen Weg: Für jeden Dienst verwende ich eine eigene E-Mail-Adresse. Möglich macht das eine simple Technik namens Catch-All. Das Ergebnis ist überraschend effektiv: Ich erkenne sofort, woher Spam kommt, kann einzelne Adressen gezielt abschalten und behalte die Kontrolle über meinen Posteingang.

Ask Fedi: I want to move web hosting and basic email away from my current host, which is now a MegaCorp with AI-based customer service and an increasingly useless admin interface. It's also based in the USA.
Can anyone recommend a company for basic webhosting and email -- particularly if it's located in Canada?
Please do not recommend self-hosting -- I do that a-plenty and I want to have someone handle some of my email.

Ich hatte erst kürzlich erhöht.
Besonders hervorheben möchte ich, dass Posteo den Aufpreis automatisch bei mir gelöscht hast und ich wieder nur den 1 € zahle. 
Ist man nicht von Dienstleistern gewohnt. Andere lassen das einfach laufen, damit vielleicht der ein oder andere durchrutscht und weiter den höheren Betrag bezahlt.
Microsoft has decided our company email IP isn't nice and temporarily rate limited it for a full day now. We're talking to mailgun support, but according to Microsofts own SNDS thing nothing is wrong with our IP. As far as we can tell nothing has changed about the volume of outgoing emails from our side...
