J'ai l'immense plaisir de présenter mon premier présentoir à cartouches #gameboy fabriqué au #fablab du coin.
juste un présentoir en plexiglas, mais pour moi c'est l'aboutissement d'un long projet au cours duquel j'ai touché à la fraiseuse à commande numérique, l'imprimante 3D, avant qu'on me conseille de passer à la découpe laser, et que je ne passe de nombreuses heures à prototyper, faire des tests, apprivoiser les logiciels, faire du dessin technique, rater et casser des trucs...

Im #FabLab Lübeck war heute JuniorLab. Wir haben "Schalterwesen" gelasert, also Figuren, die auf Lichtschaltern sitzen können. Das Interesse war enorm, das hat uns sehr gefreut!
I have finally put this #penplotter back on track... The ribbon cable was damaged when we bought it secondhand. But this cable was to old and I couldn't find a replacement.
I replaced it with gigantic jumper wires, their width was matching exactly the slot! Just so lucky sometimes 😅
Then I had a lot of connection issues, but now I finally notes down the right software settings and can plot directly from @inkscape
Being in a #textile #fablab, this will serve mainly to draw sewing patterns on A0 and avoid people to make a montage of A4 sheets.

In order to prepare my #textile #repair classes, I made a #visiblemending swatchbook. Its been a while that I wanted to have one object to show specific repairs when people ask what is possible to do with their damaged garments.
Before starting online classes, I will first see how the first class goes. Here's the programme:
Course 1/4: simple sewing stitches
Course 2/4: Darning and patches
Course 3/4: Knitwear repair level 1
Course 4/4: Knitwear repair level 2
I will give these classes in #brussels #bruxelles at the textile #fablab @greenfabric in French (one on one translation in English could be possible but the main explanations will be in French).

Here's my #introduction post.
Former #graphicdesigner and #webdeveloper at #OpenSourcePublishing, I gradually turned my practice to #textiledesign. Still exploring free and open source software, programming but in relation to many textile techniques.
My main practice is #knitting, #machineknitting and #visiblemending. But I love to explore any #fiberarts related #technique.
In 2020, I joined the #textile #fablab @GreenFabric in #brussels where I like to build / #hack #machines for textile.
In 2024, I joined the #Fabricademy programme ( #textile and #technology) where I made digitally knitted garments to bypass #CCTV #facerecognition.
I am now a Fabricademy instructor!
A little picture as intro: My Mother was a Computer. Title borrowed from media theoretician Katherine N. Hayles. This is the opening piece of a series of knitted portraits of women who played a major role in the history of computing.
I'm super happy to find back my old family here in Lurk/Mastodon (you know who you are :) ). 💜

Das MakeLab möchte gerne einige Sachen anschaffen, u.a. endlich auch eine CNC-Fräse (hauptsächlich für Holz). Hat jemand einen Vorschlag für ein gutes Gerät? Wir können nur Rechnungskauf (weil Uni) und bestenfalls neu, gebraucht auf Rechnung könnte aber auch gehen. Bestenfalls nicht über 5000€.
