While exploring the Digital Library of Georgia, Daniel Brown discovered a long-lost photograph of his father standing beside Amelia Earhart at Atlanta’s Candler Field in 1934. The image confirmed a story his father told for decades but never had proof of.
The rediscovery highlights how digitized archival collections preserve history while unexpectedly reconnecting families with their own past.

What do centuries-old stones, a self-winding watch and child's sock have in common?
Such time capsules often hide in our cupboards: lost treasures, family heirlooms, old diaries or dry pressed flowers. It is not their monetary value that matters, but the stories they tell.
After reading similar posts from @AlexWolfe, @daj and @hryggrbyr, I started to think of my own list.

Do you have the new Ancestry "AI Stories" feature in beta yet? I don't think it's quite ready for widespread release, as my #Genealogy #FamilyHistory blog post indicates, but has potential in the future if improved. https://climbingmyfamilytree.blogspot.com/2026/02/ancestry-ai-stories-in-beta.html
I have been naughty.
Forgive me.
I answered the #Ancestry pop-up "would you recommend Ancestry to friends and family" with a 10.
Then answered the "Why did you give us a score of 10?" By telling them the way they present search results is often totally unhelpful ... with an "example" of births of John Smiths listed only at the county level with no town or registration district shown.

#Genealogy Amy Johnson Crow just announced the new themes for her popular #52Ancestors in 52 Weeks series, with an alternative for 12 Ancestors in 12 Months. I blogged about how her prompts are inspiring and thought-provoking, an opportunity for a fresh perspective on #familyhistory: https://climbingmyfamilytree.blogspot.com/2025/12/52-ancestors-in-52-weeks-or-12.html
Christine, thank you for introducing me to a circle of #FamilyHistory folk I'd never otherwise get to interact with.
It has been a privilege to be able to listen to you all :)
