And, please, consider to prefix important words in your posts with a hashtag, so that it enters the Fediwall. And remember that by selecting "Show all trending posts“, "Show all source-local posts“ and/or "Show all federated posts“ your search will become rather unspecific.

Just another #PSA reminder to people trying to spread things on the #Fediverse: the #Boost button in #Mastodon (also known as #Repost), basically justs puts the post up in the feed again. It doesn't do anything new. In fact, lots of instances have the timeline set up by default to not even show a boost of a post that is already visible, either from the original or another boost.

Therefore, hitting the Boost button on something you just posted doesn't do anything. All it's doing is making it show up twice in a row, usually only when people look at your actual timeline page directly.

What's worse is that you can only do it once: you can't just unclick it and then click it again to make it show up again.

So, if you are trying to get more eyes on something you posted, you should wait at least a couple hours before you hit the Boost button.

Are there any "case studies" of whole communities moving to the fediverse, similar to the Forkiverse?

New instance, new #introduction !

Hi #fediverse ! We’re the European Southern Observatory, and we design, build and operate ground-based telescopes.

One of them is our Extremely Large Telescope, currently under construction in #Chile. It will have a 39 m mirror, and its rotating enclosure will weigh 6100 tonnes, or about 700 mastodons!

We’re looking forward to chatting with all of you about #astronomy

I am seeing people on Twitter installing the UpScrolled app as a replacement to TikTok because Larry Ellison appears to be censoring anti-Israel and anti-Trump posts and accounts. A shame that no one is promoting Loops nor Pixelfed.
