How “not a real winter” has it been in CO? This is my garlic patch today. Just nuts. #gardening

The Russian Snowdrops are starting to appear on the lawn now. Quite a few of the other 150 or so bulbs I planted in the borders are starting to show as well. Hoping for an abundance of floriferousness 🤔

Weekend plans, friends? I just got back from taking Dad shopping and am about to have a late tea.
My own weekend plans include planting out collard seedlings and starting some kale seeds on the window sill. It's probably cool enough for them to be planted outside but I have more control over the environment if I have them inside. Also I'm less likely to forget to water them (like that ever happens, ahahaha).
I need to repot some indoor plants, too. Kid1's friend was telling Kid1 how bizarre it is to have plants inside our house (he grew up in a different culture but also maybe just a different.... house? Because I reckon houseplants are not just a Western thing? Or are they?! Now I'm wondering.)
I've got to run at least one Kid to work tomorrow and do a bunch of washing. Might swing by the markets while I'm in town. Meant to catch up for coffee with a friend but our schedules clash so we'll do another time. I need to bake and hopefully there'll be a trip to the beach at some point. And ooh, some more mulching.
So I guess the weekend will be mostly plants? I feel very compelled to have my hands in the dirt a LOT, so that's telling me something
I managed to build myself a chair (from an old bench which was falling apart) so I can sit in the sunshine and watch the frogs , newts and other wildlife in and around the pond. Only problem, once I finally found some time to sit down and relax, I see the next task which needs doing, so I never sit there for more than a few minutes 😉 #allotment #gardening

WELL!
Did we pot those seedlings into way too large pots? Yes.
But! The toilet roll setup was really struggling with mold, first it was a really pretty orange slime mold, but then we got the white fuzzy stuff on the surface too. I was too worried it would kill the seedlings, so we cleaned them up and potted them into these pots, gotta work with what you have, right?
Hopefully it works out.
Now I think there was two problems with the loo set up, for sure over watered it, but also, I think there wasn't enough air circulation, they were down inside the plastic pot, the walls of if going over the top of the loo rolls, and the spot they are in is rather protected, not a lot of airflow over there.
Knowing all this I will adjust what I can and see how it goes!
Terrible photo but first “hummingbird moth” (I don’t know what the real name of this species is) but it is my favorite. They seem to come out about an half-hour before dark during peak skeeter hour. #HummingbirdHawkMoth #gardening
Well there it is - it might be the first time in ages without rain for more than a day. Need to sharpen the mower in readiness!

Hi, I'm V! #introduction
I am a late-fifties white, fat #disabled #nonbinary person. I live with my partner D & his partner, E, who also hang round on fedi. Sadly, we currently have no pets, but we help out our neighbours & friends with dog walking and pet sitting.
I have a bunch of chronic illnesses & conditions that limit my energy, so posting & response times can be slow and sporadic, but I do my best. I will CW when appropriate and provide image descriptions. I don't boost images without descriptions.
I love the #fediverse; however, I am aware of the problems this place has, especially for #BIPOC . I try to use it critically & thoughtfully and do my best not to be part of the problem. I do appreciate being called out/in if I fuck up, but I recognise that responsibility is mine to do better.
I am trying to unlearn a whole bunch of #racist #colonialist crap amongst other things, so I can be a halfway decent human. BTW Fuck whiteness, white supremacist, nationalist bollocks in any form or shape. I won't argue with you, I'll block & report you.
I like #sewing , #art , #gardening , #craft, #photography, and #Slowmaking stuff in general.
Spring has sprung on the allotment. Early fruit trees such as peach, cherry plum and apricot are flowering as well as daffodils, anemones, primroses and other early flowers. There is frog spawn in the pond and early bees and butterflies are out and about on sunny days. #flowers #gardening #spring
Frost advisory NOOOOOOOOO. Mah flower babies.
I don't know what has spent the Winter living in my bag of seed compost but it has been surviving on a diet of Sycamore seeds.
This variety produces flower triplets that make me happy and I hope they brighten your Thursday.
Need help with your garden? Starting March 1, I am opening up three spots for garden coaching. You tell me about your garden, and I help you with planning, keep an eye on your tasks, and am at your side with lots of knowledge.
