I had so much fun in London last year that I’ll once again be on #GitHub booth duty some of the time at #KubeCon in #Amsterdam.
Even better, if you want a chill hangout on the Monday of KubeWeek, I’m helping run the drop-in https://luma.com/githubsocialclub-amsterdam.
I was getting a bit twitchy at not having any travel booked for the month of March. So I booked a 6am flight. 🙈
Clinejection — Compromising Cline's Production Releases just by Prompting an Issue Triager
"Adnan Khan describes a devious attack chain against the Cline GitHub repository, which started with a prompt injection attack in the title of an issue opened against the repo."
Wow, what a story! Running Claude in the CI/CD Pipeline? Really?!
Jak tworząc issue przejąć repozytorium? Prompt injection w GitHub Codespaces
Badacze z Orca Security odkryli podatność prompt injection w GitHub Codespaces. Pozwoliło to w opisie (w ramach issues) przekazać modelowi złośliwe instrukcje i przy pomocy kilku narzędzi wykraść token wygenerowany dla danego środowiska. W efekcie umożliwiło to przejęcie kontroli nad repozytorium. TLDR: GitHub Issues to narzędzie do śledzenia zadań, błędów...

...🤷...
Nada puedo hacer para evitarlo.
A prompt-injected GitHub issue tricked Cline’s AI triage bot into running attacker code, leading to a compromised npm token and a malicious cline@2.3.0 release. 🧩
Around 4,000 developers unknowingly got OpenClaw installed with broad system access, showing how “AI installs AI” can quietly escalate supply-chain risk. 🛡️

Thank you @stefanzweifel (& contributors) for git-auto-commit-action.
Why closing (merging) pull request in GitHub does not update the number in UI? Why do I have to refresh my browser tab?
Cache invalidation is a hard problem.
I have now moved my biggest open source project (my website for sports rankings) from #GitHub to @Codeberg 🇩🇪. I encourage other Europeans to also promote the adoption of European tech 🙂
C'mon #GitHub - this is about 5 weeks past being old...
BlogMore has now made it to v1.5.0; since I started this wee #AI experiment it's been coming along quite nicely and s handling my blogs really well.
@CenterforOpenScience Any chance the #OSF will start supporting #Codeberg as an add-on for projects? I imagine the Venn diagram of people into #openscience and people wanting to get off #Github has a lot of crossover.

Video-Container-Title-Cleaner: Electron app to scan video files and remove container title metadata in-place (with recursive folder support).
Production-ready implementation of InvisPose - a revolutionary WiFi-based dense human pose estimation system that enables real-time full-body tracking through walls using commodity mesh routers
friends don’t let friends use spicy autocarrot to generate #passwords… 💁♀️
Your AI-generated password isn't random, it just looks that way
“AI security company Irregular looked at Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini, and found all three #GenAI tools put forward seemingly strong passwords that were, in fact, easily guessable.”
…
“Irregular found that all three AI #chatbots produced passwords with common patterns, and if hackers understood them, they could use that knowledge to inform their brute-force strategies.”
…
“Knowing the patterns also reveals how many times #LLMs are used to create passwords in open source projects. The researchers showed that by searching common character sequences across #GitHub and the wider web, queries return test code, setup instructions, technical documentation, and more.”

Microslop is a billion dollar company but they still haven't added the ability to zoom in pictures in the GitHub mobile app. I'm squinting at these tiny screenshots in READMEs with no way to make them larger.
We simply don't have the technology.
Top Tech Tip for Thursday: Ever go to a project's Github page and wonder how to just download the file you need to run the thing? With your screen reader's Browse Mode enabled, press control+f (or NVDA+Control+f), type release and press enter. Press enter to open the Releases page. Then press control+f, search for Assets and press enter. Press control+home then press 2 twice and press enter on the file name to download! #accessibility #Github
I just published a write-up on a small #OpenSource tool I built: Pete’s PDF to MD.
If you’re uploading PDFs into #ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, or #NotebookLM, you might be making life harder than it needs to be.
This tool converts PDFs into structured, AI-ready Markdown, with heading extraction and section splitting designed specifically for LLM workflows.
Version 0.6.0 is out now, with Mac and Windows builds available.

Would love to hear your thoughts if you try it. #GitHub
The @Mastodon code is in GitHub. Neither GitHub nor Microsoft are in Mastodon, and they have nothing to do with Fediverse. @Codeberg is in Mastodon. Shouldn't Mastodon code be in a Codeberg repository?

I only did a few simple pull requests on github.com to update documentation files (all editing done in the browser), and now #GitHub forces me to enable TOTP-based two factor authentication -- wow.
OK, "go and f**k yourself" and I save all the data needed in the same place, only what they got now is that I have more hassle to sign in since one step more to do.
Is that what you want to achieve, dear GitHub?
I do not use github for any serious code ...
