I've deleted my #Instagram account today. Since they want to stop E2E encryption.
The cat is out of the bag -- For people who still use #instagram , know that Meta is killing end-to-end encryption for messages on May 8th of this year.
Meta, in my opinion, wants to read everyone's chats, sell the data to advertisers (since revenue has been plummeting), feed it to their LLM products, and let state actors and other government entities in on the action, too.

I've finally rid of #meta apps from my #android phone. Now to sort out #google apps & find an alternative #Foss #os for my phone. Unfortunately these phone OS's are either too expensive to buy & use or unavailable for majority of phones out there. I'm already using #Foss app's to replace some of the Google app's.
I'm using @pixelfed instead of #instagram and obviously @Mastodon instead of #facebook. For emails, I've #thunderbird and for #maps I've #osmandapp. I use #fdroid instead of #playstore
Exclusive: Meta planning sweeping layoffs as AI costs mount
If Meta settles on the 20% figure, the layoffs will be the company's most significant since a restructuring in late 2022 and early 2023 that it dubbed the "year of efficiency." It employed nearly 79,000 people as of December 31.
