Today we honour those who can’t afford to just celebrate: trans and gender‑diverse people, sex workers, Black, Indigenous and migrant women and gender minorities, who are still fighting for basic safety and dignity.

About 10 years ago International Women’s Day was a great day for raising awareness for injustices against women globally and was also a true celebration of the achievements so many women have made.
Now all I’m seeing are ads for boozy brunches or discount codes for high street stores OR privileged white women using it to promote themselves whilst ignoring intersectionality.
As usual, capitalism has ruined it.
Today is International Women's Day.
Heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful women in the fediverse, who help create it, maintain it, advance it, and use it.
May we all - especially men - continue to work towards, and behave to ensure, a fediverse that is safe, enjoyable, and useful for women everywhere.
