You know, all of these lawsuits against #socialmedia companies don't seem to account for one thing... parent accountability. Like, where as a #parent do you start to think, "Well, my #child is watching too much stuff on #Tiktok, maybe I should turn on parental controls and stop this from happening as much and get them outside?", where is the accountability in these cases? Social media isn't responsible for babysitting your #kids, and parents who allow their kids to browse social media endlessly and then participate in lawsuits that then say kids are being targeted so that they participate in addictive behavior are just looking to lose. Parents need to take accountability for their misplaced parenting and actually take a stand in their kids lives to stop them from being addicted to social media scrolling, as its not the responsibility for social media companies to do parental jobs for them. I'm not even a parent and I believe social media is harmful for kids, but only if parents don't have control over what kids watch, how much they watch, and what they do over time to ensure their kids are mentally healthy even after having watched for a while.
A 2023 study published in The Journal of Climate Change and Health found that at least 56 per cent of Canadian youth respondents feel afraid, sad, anxious and powerless when it comes to climate change. And 78 per cent reported that climate change impacts their overall mental health.
