EN: After more than a year, I have to admit: my attempt to build counter-narratives on #X against the algorithmically amplified far-right content has failed. Critical or factual posts are shown to only a tiny fraction of my followers. As a result, they have a ridiculously small reach. X is a platform that amplifies racist and other hateful messages, not a space for serious discussion and the exchange of information.
Its completely expected, yet infinitely sad to see #KajaKallas quoted from X in this mornings tv news.
These people are supposed to:
a) represent us
b) be role models setting a good example
So posting on a holocausts denying, extreme right, anti democratic, anti EU, Hitler praising, CSAM promoting closed algorithmically manipulated network owned by a megalomaniac doesn't quite cut the mustard.

Regulating the business model of big tech social media, particularly targeted advertising and algorithmic manipulation, is much more difficult.
Why not remove the incentives for platforms to maximize engagement through outrage or addictive algorithms?
The answer is that it takes *courage*.

After about twelve hours, the same post had received more than 300 shares and likes on Mastodon, while it had only been shared three times and liked four times on BlueSky.
I'm no social media expert, but it's amazing how reluctant people are to use Mastodon because of its lack of reach and interaction.
If we bring more people here, the Fediverse could become the de facto public square.
