Over the last few months, I've noticed some things on #Mastodon that have been affecting me personally even if I'm not involved.
If I see a post's comments, and the OP calls out some posts and still manages to have a respectful conversation with those people and resolve the matter, I think the OP is a mature person.
But if the OP seemingly calls out various comments she thinks are "tangential" or "not contributing" correctly enough to her liking or policing what replies are relevant to the conversation or not (even if they actually are), I either assume that the OP is gatekeeping or just being dismissive and exclusionary, especially if the commenter doesn't appear to have any bad intentions or vibes. I may eventually end up muting the OP if there is a known pattern of this in a way that is more unconstructive than not.
I base this on how they write using specific keywords, phrases, implied emotion, etc. Not arbitrary biases or prejudices.
Anyway, I find it weird some people complain about tone policing from others but somehow their own version of conversational policing is OK.
I wonder if I am being too overly sensitive about this?
Am I alone?

Hey guys, from a conversation with a Palestinian doctor here (https://mastodon.social/@dr_abdullah_awwad) and looking at the way Palestinian posts are received in fedi, it seems like they want to be here but can get confused about how to go about it. Without giving links to long and possibly complicated tutorials, what would be your advice on the best kinds of posts to start writing? And maybe we can look into some kind of a buddy system? They all tend to open accounts on the main m.s instance, but anyone would have recs on other instances they can use?

Looking at the Mastodon's image cache cleanup script results, I see 5-10 orphaned media files are produced daily. I wonder how that happens.
At least someone has acknowledged the possibility and it gets dealt with.
Ich ärgere mich immer wieder über ver.di. Meine Gewerkschaft schiebt Meta Reichweite und Geld in den Rachen. Dabei hat der DGB einen eigenen Mastodon-Server. Warum soll ich für Infos bei Facebook, WhatsApp oder Instagram sein? Ich will kein US-BigTech. Ich lehne das ab. Gewerkschaft heißt auch: Datenschutz und Freiheit ernst nehmen.

Kan iemand mij helpen? Met inloggen op mijn tablet bij mijn msdnt account kreeg ik het bericht dat ik van een ander IP adres had ingelogd via Firefox met Linux. Ik heb mijn wachtwoord vervangen, maar de volgende dag weer hetzelfde. Mail gestuurd naar msdnt, geen reactie, aangemeld bij toot. Vanmorgen weer een bericht met de zelfde inhoud. Ik heb weliswaar Linux op mijn laptop, maar gebruik die niet voor Mastodon. Wat is hier aan de hand?

Since most peeps have chrono timeline and latest post show first?
So 1/3 posted last, would show 1st?
I can say the #Fediverse is a different place than any other social media platform I have been on. I've been here since 2022. When my self-hosted instance went down for a couple days, I didn't yearn for social media like a drug. I wondered how certain people's cats were, one person had a mother in the hospital, someone was getting a new job, one had the blues, etc, etc. I missed people more than viralness of a platform. #Mastodon #ActivityPub Thank you for being my Old Friends.
