I have just arrived in 🚊Graz, where we are meeting for the summer ☀️retreat of our @comai Research Unit.

Until Wednesday, we want to discuss what #research has been carried out in the projects over the last 6️⃣ months, what the challenges of #triangulating #methods 🔣 are, how socio-material #constitution and #appropriation come together 🤲 in a process of #artificialintelligence #emergence, and much more.

This will be followed by our #ComAI doctoral 👩‍🎓👨‍🎓 summer school.

Amber-Lee Varadi made a strong epistemological argument for the need for “revolutionary methods” in the study of everyday youth digital practices, focusing on the “media go-along” method. Based on making the digital media part of the itw process, I get it’s part of “trace interview” family of methods where the key idea is that participants become co-analysts and take active part in sense-making. I'm a #survey methodologist and professor of #sociology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I also direct our academic survey center, the Bureau of Sociological Research. And I edit the survey methods side of the Journal of Survey Statistics and Methodology.

My work is on mixed-mode surveys, interviewers, qnaire design, and nonresponse.
