What in the what, Doug Ford? What a bizarre key message. I cannot believe a staffer actually wrote that for him.Doug Ford says some weird stuff, but that might be amongst the weirdest.#OnPoli

#DougFord is building a Chuck-E-Cheese style grift with his "#Ontario Elementary Teachers Resource Portal", with him or his donors poised to be the one hand to out high margin tat to #Teachers.
Like with his #Recycling #Privatization, it'll end up costing taxpayers more and we'll be worse for it, but he and his donors will get $$$!
Instead of just sending teachers an Electronic Fund Transfer*, which would be the cheaper, faster, more secure method, and provides customers to local stores, he's setting up a portal where teachers will spend Ford Bucks at the Ford Supply Store.
Where a teacher might spend $5 for a box of markers at their local store, they'll instead spend 5 Ford Bucks to get it from a central facility.
But those markers will eventually be stocked at a cost to taxpayers of $10/pack, and that's where he'll profit!
The local store loses $5 revenue and eventually closes.
*Ford sent COVID Cheques instead of EFTs b/c he wanted to bribe voters with their money during a crisis.
"The government insists the move is not about changing the rules after losing two legal challenges to release Ford’s phone records."Just what would Ford's cellphone records show? And it's very troubling, too, that Ford is attempting a legislative end run around a judicial decision.#OnPoli

This is how you know they're about to do some mega-shady shit, even worse than they already were.
Ontario to make premier, cabinet ministers’ records secret as it tightens FOI laws
TORONTO - Ontario is set to make Premier Doug Ford and cabinet members’ records secret as it “modernizes” freedom-of-information laws.

#onpoli ad in the local small town newspaper. Note the AI generated slop image which has the pipeline stick out of the ground at a weird angle, not to mention it only being ~10cm under ground elsewhere, oh and there seems a floating container in the background? To give them some credit though, I bet these full-page ads have quite a positive effect supporting small independent journalism.

In addition to meddling in municipal politics, Ford also likes to pretend he's a fed.
What a numpty.

Ontario had two “jewels” in the City of Toronto — The Science Centre, and Ontario Place. Premier Doug Ford has managed in his tenure to destroy both of them, in both cases for shady and corrupt reasons.
Now he’s working to wreck Toronto’s own jewel, the Toronto Islands, by supporting Porter’s bid to allow jets at the Island Airport, something the citizens of Toronto have rejected repeatedly.
Seriously, has Ford done anything during his tenure that actually makes the Province better? It seems every action he takes makes things shittier. (See also Health Care, School Boards…)
I am happy that he’s been building public transit, but I haven’t forgotten that if he and his brother hadn’t trashed the already-approved-and-funded Transit City plan back in 2010, it would have been long ago completed. So again: shittier substitute.
I cannot figure out why the opposition parties seem to have so much trouble running against his government.
Water Watchers is a small but mighty group in S. Ontario that has led the fight against Nestlé water bottling. While Nestlé did quit and sell to Blue Triton another company, the fight continues. All new companies must apply for a water-taking permit but Ford's Cons want to bypass that and continue business as usual.
This is their notice of joining with other groups including 14 First Nations as Co-Intervenor Status on a new Legal Case against Federal Bill C5 and Ontario Bill 5.
These are the Resource Wars and we're all the front lines and the main victims wherever you reside in Canada.
These court challenges need funding and Water Watchers is worth sending some $$ to.

"Water Watchers is excited to announce we are joining forces with 14 First Nations and several eNGOs like Sierra Club Canada to support the forthcoming legal challenge against Bills 5 & C-5. This is Water Watchers' first time as an official party to a legal challenge and marks an exciting new chapter in our solidarity work - one where we don't just show up together on the frontlines or in decision-makers' email inboxes, but also in the court room.
Canada’s Building Canada Act (Bill C5 federally, Bill 5 in Ontario) was passed quietly and quickly—without consultation, without consent, and without accountability. Behind its bureaucratic name hides a dangerous truth: these pieces of legislation give sweeping, unchecked powers to the federal and provincial governments to bypass environmental protections, fast-track extractive mega-projects, and ignore their constitutional duty to consult Indigenous Nations. In short, it legalizes the suspension of democracy in the name of economic recovery and national security. It weaponizes the language of “streamlining” to erase the very processes that were designed to protect land, waters, and Indigenous rights.
Bill C-5 (federal) and Bill 5 (Ontario):
Undermines Section 35 of the Constitution and UNDRIP implementation
Nullifies environmental impact assessments for major projects
Shields destructive development—like the Ring of Fire—from scrutiny or accountability
Deepens economic coercion among First Nations, forcing consent under duress
Empowers Cabinet to override key federal laws without public or judicial oversight
If this legislation is allowed to stand, it will set precedent for the expansion of fascistic governance under the guise of efficiency. It erodes the foundational tenets of Indigenous sovereignty, democratic process, and ecological stewardship. That's why Water Watchers is joining as a co-intervenor and fighting to ensure we don't enter an age of reconciliation rollbacks.
We are also helping shape an emergent coalition of Indigenous water protectors and settler allies, weaving our leadership and ways of knowing to ensure our most sacred relationships with the land and water will endure for generations to come. Stay tuned as we begin sharing more from this burgeoning collective space for environmental defence and Indigenous sovereignty."
I was just made aware of this yesterday. Several #ONDP MPP's introduced Bill 91, a #RightToRepair bill in the #Ontario Legislature.
Anything you can do to build awareness/support for this bill in your community would be appreciated.
There's a lot of talk about the #Epstein files. In #Canada, our governments remain at the centre of ongoing systems of child abuse, sexual and otherwise. I know because I went through it. From the school system, to child protection services and agencies, our governments send funds, and then do next to nothing while children are abused over and over again. Here's some articles about it: https://globalnews.ca/tag/hatts-off/ https://globalnews.ca/tag/ontario-child-welfare-system/
Also see https://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/acts/c-46/section-43.html
While Danielle gets more attention, Doug has been stealing Ontario blind and getting away with continual destruction of health care, education, environmental protections, and any kind of good governance. His fiefdom, his rules and always under the table and on the quiet if he can get away with it and get away with it, he does.
Finally you can find information about protests and rallies in #Toronto without having to belong to a fascist social media platform where inexplicably everyone is doing the organizing. Find it and more information at @showuptoronto! #TOPoli #ONPoli
The Ontario Liberal leadership race hasn't even really started, and the smear campaign against the relatively more progressive Nate Erskine-Smith has begun.

A non-issue, really, but that's a lot of words from the Toronto Star on a $2400 fine.
This is my picture of Black Creek at Smythe park, from the spring of 2026.
It's a creek that really should be naturalized.

Fantasy Toronto. Just imagine a new naturalized park in Toronto;
1) Walk using the electrical hydro corridor from Caledonia and St. Clair to Keele street,
2) Use the new tunnel that the city is building under the train tracks near the Stockyards,
3) The city revitalizes Lavender creek,
4) The city naturalizes the Black Creek,
5) A path is made along the golf course to connect to the Humber river, along a naturalized Black Creek.
It would be one the greatest naturalized walks in Toronto, a whole new creek walkway that is 5kms long.
The Black Creek should be naturalized near Jane street.
The Black Creek at Jane and Alliance Ave. should be naturalized. The Black Creek was cemented in years ago. The banks should be expanded and made marsh land / wet land. Such areas are important habit for birds.
And...there is space in Black Creek West Park to create a series of ponds.
