Si vosaltres (o un amic/familiar vostre) porteu un negoci cara el públic, o hi ha algun establiment comercial que, per la seva qualitat, valors o productes, us agrada, poseu-lo a #OpenStreetMap, amb la màxima informació possible (horari, adreça, telèfon, web...)
El negoci tindrà més visibilitat, especialment per la gent que no utilitza #GoogleMaps. A la vegada, els qui utilitzem #OSM podrem disposar de més informació quan visitem un municipi que no coneixem.

This is not new, just writing and pinning it here so I can point people to this.
#OpenStreetMap's site has one big problem: people think it's an alternative to GMaps, while it's in fact a technology demonstrator.
* The map itself does not show all types of features, and adding new features is a nontrivial process.
* The search widget talks to a georeferencer which can find some type of features by names and resolve addresses, but can't find generics like 'butcher'.

* StreetComplete (Android) gamifies adding data to the map. * OsmAnd (Android, iOS) is a navigation app that allows adding Points of Interests to the map.
* The iD editor (web) is launched by the edit button on osm.org. It's a good way to help in HOT tasks like for the Morocco earthquake.
* The JOSM editor (Windows, Mac, Linux) it’s the heavyweight.
* If you like JOSM, you’ll probably like Vespucci (Android).

Father of two, make my own maps and computer tools, have my own home server, fix as many things as I can myself, love to drive and travel by car but not for the city, and much more.
Mostly boosts, in several languages, including some I can't speak, write or read.
He venido usando cuentas en el #Fediverso, principalmente en #GNUSocial. Y antes en Identi.ca y otras. La última @colegota. Pero ese servidor cierra el 31/12/2024 por lo que migro mi cuenta a esta de #Akkoma en #Disroot.
El tiempo que dedico a redes no es mucho ni constante. Por lo que, al menos de momento, voy a reducir el número de cuentas que seguía. Si no devuelvo seguimientos, es probable que publiques más de lo que pueda leer cada vez que conecto. Nada personal.
A lo que más tiempo dedico es a la #huerta. Y eso se verá por aquí. Como mi interés por la #Agroecología.
En lo social. Los movimientos sociales y la #autogestión.
Uso #SoftwareLibre. Preocupado por la #Seguridad y sobre todo por la #Privacidad. Siempre me han encantado los #mapas y procuro colaborar con #OpenStreetmap.
Cuando puedo, hago viajes por libre. Me encanta descubrir e imbuirme en otras culturas y territorios, y conocer sus gentes. Procuro impactar lo menos posible, aunque soy consciente de que es difícil.
Y, cosas guays aparte, tengo un montón de defectos. Algunos de los cuales iréis descubriendo por aquí. 😉

O que é o OpenStreetMap? 🤔
É um projeto colaborativo que tem como objetivo a criação de uma base cartográfica de livre utilização recobrindo todo o planeta.
- Qualquer pessoa pode colaborar com edições no mapa e essas edições podem servir a qualquer fim a qualquer outra pessoa ou organização, inclusive com propósitos comerciais.
- Frequentemente citado como uma "Wikipedia de mapas"
Paradoxically, a lot of these people also participate in, or even maintain, communities hosted on #nonfree / #proprietary / #restricted or #centralized platforms like #Telegram, #Discord, #WhatsApp, #Signal, #Instagram, #Facebook, #Twitter, #LinkedIn, #Bluesky, #GitHub, and others.
To state the obvious, each community which chooses a proprietary platform - or bridges to it - is also **giving another reason for others to be on that platform.** It's *reinforcing network effect.*
Conversely, if these communities chose to move to free platforms, their members would be forced to move as well. In other words, these communities have *the opportunity to push for change on a massive scale.*
Sure, you have to reach out to people on proprietary platforms, if that's where the majority are. But you **cannot** be stopping there - you **must** have a strategy to move people away from proprietary platforms to free platforms.
To give the example of #OpenStreetMap -
* I announce events on free platforms sooner
* I remind people on proprietary platforms that they should join the free platforms to get notified earlier
* After each event, we invite people to our #XMPP channel, which is not bridged to any other platform.
* All organizational talk takes place on our XMPP channel, which is not bridged to any other platform.
* I minimize my participation on proprietary platforms, and communities which bridge to them. The bulk of my activity happens on free platforms.
* I have never submitted data to Mapillary or KartaView, because their clients and servers are proprietary. All my contributions go to #WikimediaCommons and #Panoramax.
So to the people who are choosing - and therefore promoting - proprietary platforms, I ask...
**How do you think things are going to change, if everyone keeps choosing what is easiest for them, and keeps choosing, supporting, and promoting proprietary platforms?**
**What part are *you* playing in making things better? Or are you just going to go with the flow of the world, even if you know it to be wrong?**
They don't like answering these questions, but I invite them to find the integrity and courage to answer them all the same.
Or, to find the integrity and courage to make the obvious change and do the obvious right thing.
People hate it when I bring this up. Sorry, but my conscience dictates that I speak up for what is right. Silence is complicity, and it gets us nowhere.
