Kumarahou flower buds emerging now. An important Maori rongoa health and wellness plant, especially as a tea for bronchitis and congestion. The flowers were alsio mixed with water to make "gumdiggers soap". It works but best to leave the flowers to seed and use ordinary soap these days. Weekend plans, friends? I just got back from taking Dad shopping and am about to have a late tea.
My own weekend plans include planting out collard seedlings and starting some kale seeds on the window sill. It's probably cool enough for them to be planted outside but I have more control over the environment if I have them inside. Also I'm less likely to forget to water them (like that ever happens, ahahaha).
I need to repot some indoor plants, too. Kid1's friend was telling Kid1 how bizarre it is to have plants inside our house (he grew up in a different culture but also maybe just a different.... house? Because I reckon houseplants are not just a Western thing? Or are they?! Now I'm wondering.)
I've got to run at least one Kid to work tomorrow and do a bunch of washing. Might swing by the markets while I'm in town. Meant to catch up for coffee with a friend but our schedules clash so we'll do another time. I need to bake and hopefully there'll be a trip to the beach at some point. And ooh, some more mulching.
So I guess the weekend will be mostly plants? I feel very compelled to have my hands in the dirt a LOT, so that's telling me something

Gewöhnlicher Blutweiderich (Lythrum salicaria) ist eigentlich eine Pflanze für nährstoffreiche Sumpfhumusböden. Dieser ist zwar sehr klein geblieben, aber dass er an diesem Ort überlebte, ist erstaunlich. Blutweiderich dient 12 Wildbienenarten, 15 Schmetterlingsarten & 7 Raupenarten als Nahrungsquelle. Wir verwendeten ihn als Heilpflanze.

Verdant Overgrowth. In my 10 years of exploring abandoned places all over the world, this has to be my favourite location out of the hundreds I have photographed.
This greenhouse had stood abandoned for decades, allowing nature to take over.
Now it is renovated once more; nature has lost this battle but she's patiently waiting for Round 2 🌿
