Hi all, I've just migrated from @irfan@kitsunes.club to this account on sakurajima.social. I'll also be attempting to migrate my main account @irfan@firefish.social to this one in the coming days, but I'm expecting nothing on that front since it's failed so far (update: it seems to have migrated, but the migration of followers seems to not have taken place).
I've moved to multiple servers throughout my time on the #Fediverse in pursuit for a "permanent" instance to be on, and I've never had the chance to write an #intro post lol so this will be my first.
I'm a 26 year old (in Nov 2024) (gfdi) programmer obsessed with languages such as #Python and #Shell, frameworks like #Django, and #CloudNative shenanigans like #Docker, #Kubernetes, and #Helm. I'm also obsessed with #FOSS and #Linux, and promoting them to be more viable each day for the masses so everyone could have not just free but secure access to daily computing.
Entertainment wise, I'm into both English but mostly Japanese content - including #anime. I also often play western and Japanese #games on #Nintendo and #Steam. My primary #gaming devices are my #SteamDeck, my #ArchLinux/#EndeavourOS based #PC, and my old and dusty #NintendoSwitch. My fav animes include #Gintama (as per my pfp), #NatsumeYuujinchou, and #AttackOnTitan. My fav games include #NierAutomata, #StardewValley, and #EldenRing. My fav genres include anything that evokes strong emotions and grabs my full attention like #horror, #thriller, and #mystery.
I'll be using this account to mostly document my passions through mini reviews or rants, even make some friends along the way. I have another picture-based account over on #Pixelfed, @irfan. All images I have posted and will be posting will include descriptive/alt text, including my pfp and banner. I'm most fluent in #Python, have some basics in #Java and #C++, but I'm also taking up new languages like #Javascript and others in my eternal journey of getting better and minimising the impostor syndrome that befalls pretty much all programmers (I feel). I'm also very experienced in #CloudNative/#DevOps technologies, and have been the one devising solutions and maintaining infrastructure in a fast-paced startup environment in my previous employment.
I'm passionate in what I do and those that know me here or IRL would know that I'm always yapping about the things I'm learning or working on - I love discussing them, and I love helping people out - esp those on the same boat as me.
This passion has led me into writing and maintaining tons of #FOSS projects like Mango: a content distribution framework based on #Django for #Mastodon and #Bluesky that powers various bots of mine like @lowyat and @waktusolat, Charts: a #Helm chart repository for an easy and reproducible deployment strategy for all my projects and everything else I self-host on my #homelab, and Orked: O-tomated #RKE2 distribution, a collection of scripts I wrote that are comprehensively documented to enable everyone to self-host a production-grade #Kubernetes cluster for absolutely free in their homes.
I'm based in Malaysia, but I'm open to just about any on-site, hybrid, or remote job opportunities anywhere. In the meantime though, I'm actively looking for a job in countries like #Japan and #Singapore, in a bid for a desperate lifestyle change. The script can do listed or unlisted replies, with or without content warnings.
But does require the #toot #Python package from #pip
