Where are you on the #python type hint scale
I just published the source code for my very naive #Python implementation for generating a node network based on MITRE Intrusion Sets and Techniques. It will output linked #Markdown files linking intrusion sets to their used techniques.
Perhaps someone finds it useful or interesting to experiment with.
Source code: https://github.com/cstromblad/markdown_node
I hinted at this in a thread started by @Viss where he asked for input on a few very likely malicious domains. Me @Viss @cR0w @neurovagrant and others did some OSINT fun work with a couple of the original domains.
It was this thread: https://mastodon.social/@Viss/114145122623079635
Now I posted a picture of a node network rendered in Obsidian and I hinted that perhaps Obsidian could be used as a poor mans version of performing threat intelligence work.

i am a total shitposter. i work in infosec (blue team), but don't follow me for good infosec information. just don't.
i like weird people... the communists and anarchists. the black sheep. the loners, outcasts, wallflowers, bizarros, rejects, outsiders, odd ducks, and the eccentric ones.
the broken. the lost. the lonely. the people who look in the mirror and can't see a beautiful person looking back.
the freaks, geeks, weirdos, goths, emos, punks, lovers with aching hearts, poets who don't know it, the elder gods/goddesses/others/cubes, nerds who love assembly, nerds who love obscure CSS, people who used to be carnies, people who want to be carnies, clown school dropouts, quiet librarians, midnight philosophers, chaotic good bartenders, D&D forever-DMs, speedrunners of life, cursed doll collectors, people who unironically love dial-up sounds, cassette tape hoarders, writers of unsent letters, DIY necromancers, time travelers stuck in the wrong timeline, indie game devs with imposter syndrome, hopeless romantics with a cynical streak, travelers of the astral plane, meme historians, collectors of lost media, aesthetic hoarders, souls lost in liminal spaces, thrift store treasure hunters, broken synthesizer enthusiasts, conspiracy theorists who know too much, introverts who overshare online, VHS romantics, late-night train station wanderers, noise music aficionados, digital ghost hunters, hopeless maximalists, cursed artifact restorers, wandering bards, and rogue rouge enthusiasts (people who dabble in makeup with chaotic flair, applying blush with the reckless abandon of a true artist).
And not least, the people who never quite fit in anywhere, but somehow fit in everywhere.
...you know, my people. 🖤
i'm looking for people that are cool with sharing misery most of the time, but do rarely dabble in the dark art of being fun. follow me if that's the case, or you know, don't.
you do you.
i do usually follow active accounts back, but if you don't post original posts... i don't typically follow. give me content plz.

So this #introduction thing seems to be a thing -- been here a couple of weeks and was unaware.
Anyway:
I am a #Canadian retired software developer (50 years on the job) having worked over the years on #PDP10 #PDP11, 8088s, Cemcorp Icons, CP/M, #Asymetrix #Toolbook, #Zope,#Python and probably others that don't immediately come to mind. A father with 2 adult children with their own children. I am a Formula 1 fan, #Porsche #Boxster owner and active high performance driver education participant.
Hi, I’m James and this is my #introduction.
I'm originally from a rural town in middle Missouri but now call #SaintLouis my home. I have a love for the American southwest (my Mom is from New Mexico) and for the coastal city of #Savannah #Georgia.
I'm single, live alone with two #dachshunds (#dogs) named Amelia and Penelope. I'm a #progressive #liberal, can't stand money in #politics, and yearn for a day when the #Democrats improve their messaging and start fighting back.
What I'm into: #Photography, #Cooking, #Grilling, #StarWars, #StarTrek, #80sMovies, #JurassicPark, #Marvel, #dinosaurs, #computers, #gadgets, #VBA, #Python, #MSExcel, #art, #archaeology, #history, #3DPrinting, #philosophy, #news, and you'll find I'm a bit of an all-around nerd.
I’m also #diabetic, suffer from #anxiety, #depression, and #panicattacks. Forgive me in advance if I reach out.
I'm sarcastic as all get out but I have a big heart, that's easily broken when I see people (or animals) hurting.
Hello fediverse 👋
I’m trying to find Python meetups or Python folks in Iceland 🇮🇸
Is there a local Python community, a meetup, or just developers hacking on Python between glaciers and volcanoes? 🐍❄️🌋
If you know people, groups, or past events, I’d love a pointer. Thanks!
Would you like to learn the very basics of #programming? I can teach you. I like to teach #Python in the context of making drawings.
If you already know how to program but would like to learn some Python or some #CreativeCoding, I can help too! Maybe you know someone who would enjoy this?
All my teaching materials are free and open, but I need income to keep producing them. Some generous people make small recurring donations. Check out https://abav.lugaralgum.com/links
Schedule a free chat with me and we can discuss further details like time availability and my rates.

#introduction
- I'm currently working on a PhD at Unicamp
- I should be tooting less and concentrating, but… ask me about drawing with #Python! Check out #py5 and #pyp5js, they bring in the drawing vocabulary from #Processing & #P5js
- I’d like to collaborate on open resources to teach programming in a visual context & I keep a list of tools for teaching Python with visual output at https://github.com/villares/Resources-for-teaching-programming
- I make a new drawing with code everyday & I put the results at https://github.com/villares/sketch-a-day
- 2024 Update: Adding more "please support me" things in my profile links!

Well, it's time. I'm releasing my tool that lets you aggregate patch and update status of hosts over ssh on unix-like systems.
The github repository has details as well as links to the exhaustive documentation.
It is my hope that at least another person finds it useful
#Pydantic tip: If you want your Pydantic model to have an optional field without your IDE screaming at you about missing arguments, you MUST declare it typed | None = None
(OK so yeah that's a type and a default argument, gimme a break :)
So you can't just:
class Moof():
dog: str
cow: str
is_mac_lore: bool | None
Because you'll still get missing argument whining. If however you declare it as:
class Moof():
dog: str
cow: str
is_mac_lore: bool | None = None
Your red glowing IDE induced headache about missing arguments will subside and you can get on with your day :)
Happy #python coding!
So apparently I was supposed to make an #introduction post. Oh well, better late than never.
I'm an early #millennial, and I'm further left that most people on most issues.
I use #GNU/#Linux, currently satisfied with #Manjaro.
Also a big #Nintendo guy because all have sinned and fall short of the perfection of #Stallman.
I'm a somewhat active #TVTropes contributor and I sporadically work on a #calendar converter written in 93% #Python and 7% #Fortran.
I'm pretty obsessed with calendars.
Hey #fediverse, I want to connect to more people here.
I am a #MachineLearning engineer who has experience with #python, #golang, #php, #JavaScript, some #rust, C & C++. I also love research and have a paper published in #CVPR. Currently, I am using #AI for improving the safety on the roads. I've worked as full-stack engineer in the past.
I find this platform and people here awesome. I've had amazing interactions and want to grow them.

I got a suggestion to use hashtags to help kickstart my network here. So here's a hashtag-dense list of my interests:
I'm a data-focused #machinelearning engineer at #Apple, working with #PyTorch, #Spark, and #Python which I write with a #Haskell accent. I used to work in #LearningTheory at the ANU.
I enjoy long distance #running and #trailrunning and recently finished my first #ultramarathon.
In my spare time I make electronic #modularsynth / #eurorack music and play #jazz #piano and #bass.
I think #Python packaging drives most people insane because they implicitly think "packaging" and "deployment" are the same thing.
Python packaging is a process for producing an intermediary artifact that can be consumed by Python programmers and organized according to community rules.
Python *deployment* does not really exist. You deploy to a platform, not a programming language. Which is double-maddening: Linux, the place where most people think they want to deploy, *also* isn't a platform.
👋 Time for an #introduction!
I'm a backend #software #engineer, mostly doing #Python. I also help organize #PyOhio, serving as its program chair since 2018.
📻 For a while in the 90s, and briefly in 2020, I was a #radio #DJ on #WRUW.
I love #music, #scifi, #fantasy, #movies, #books, #comics, & #animation. For a while my main hobby was #photography. Lately, I enjoy #guitar, #DnD (as player and #DM), #gaming, #cats, #dadops, and (begrudgingly) the #Peloton.
Lots of good programming languages out there, but I doubt we'll ever get one with the elegance and simplicity of #Lisp (I bucket here all derivates like #Clojure as well).
Sadly, most other languages suffer from an ever growing syntax complexity. Many people call the syntax of a language like #Python “simple”, but I think they actually mean it's "familiar” / “sensible" to most programmers and non-programmers. Simplicity and familiarity are two pretty different concepts, though.
Which languages do you like/favor for their simplicity?
