Alllright, hello lunarians! We've moved instances again (4 hours has to be a world record for shortest stay in a #Mastodon before migrating :P), and hopefully this will be the final time we will do that. It would be a shame, because "Outer Heaven" does sorta fit more for a #browser named "Pale Moon"! ;)
So, with a permanent #fediverse home, here's the short #introduction again done two instances ago on what #PaleMoon is all about:
We are one of the first projects out there to have forked from #Firefox / #Mozilla. We've started as a humble rebuild aiming to bring an optimized Firefox, but we've soon evolved into a full-fledged fork (hard fork if you will) which kept what we believe were the good stuff that Mozilla axed and didn't deserve axing, like #XUL (which we believe is the most powerful language for extending a browser, up to its internals), #RSS, and <style scoped>, and kept out the ones that we believe were not good for our userbase (like Pocket, the LLM cruft, and if you're old enough, Australis!). We aim to keep evolving this mature platform in order to keep up with the latest feature additions to the web as we reasonably can (even though we believe they're becoming increasingly silly) while, if possible and necessary, adding up some of our own. All of that, as an independent effort supported primarily by nothing else but you: the users!

Having found an RSS reader (I went with inoreader), I now need to find blogs to read. The two blogs I most often read don't appear to have an RSS feed and my reader is looking a little empty.
So I turn once again to the fediverse. What are y'all reading? What blog do you think I should add to my reader? Don't worry about what I might like. I want to expand my horizon so I'm interested in what you like. Hit me up!

I'd like to read more blogs and do an RSS feed (?) so I can read the blog posts in one place rather than hunt for them. How do others do this? I'd prefer for them not to come into my email inbox but not sure how else to do it. I'm not super tech-savvy so coding is way out of my comfort zone. I'd also prefer something that's free while I find my way in this.
Thankful for any recommendations.

There are some weird quirks with gooseRSS. But I'm testing a few solutions over the next few days.
*Unpopular opinions:* 
The #Internet needs a "Great Reboot", IMHO, where:
- #Mastodon is the new IRC, X, Threads, Bluesky, LinkedIn, and Facebook
- #Deltachat is the new email and two-way email mailing list
- #RSS is the new one-way email mailing list
- static content generators (say, #Hugo, #Jekyll, etc) are the new web CMS'. No CDN, as they're so lightweight.
- #XMPP is the new #Discord - and no encryption is used in groups
- #Flarum is the new goto for a persisting, searchable support forum
- #Signal is for encrypted 1-to-1 chats and encrypted group chats (when none of the above suffice), as they get the encryption right in a very reliable way *for the group chat* (despite being a centralized service).

Ran across this article on Hacker News. It's got a few months under its belt, but it surprised me #Mastodon didn't warrant a mention. I'm a huge fan of #RSS, and get most of my news that way, but it's also a Mastodon feature. I don't always "follow" Mastodon accounts from Mastodon. Sometimes I follow them through RSS. Every Mastodon profile has at least 2 RSS feeds, and they can make following some profiles incredibly handy. Social media and RSS isn't mutually exclusive.

Hi folks, @pluralistic wrote this nice thread about #RSS and #rssfeed a caoule of days ago. I am still looking for a reliable ( #opensource) app for #Ubuntu and #Android.
Being able to sync things among devices would be nice but is not required.
Any recommendations?
