The “small web” is bigger than you might think
lots of ppl on the smallweb tend to avoid any kind of fancy JavaScript stuff on their sites, and are more less in favor of a web 1.0 style content, but I wonder if there might be some value in tools that allow people to interconnect their sites with their friends through JS and open standards like RSS. It would be like taking the concept of webrings to a more integrated level.
I wonder how far you could take it? I'm working on a basic tool that lets you show off the recent blog posts by your friends on your own site, but maybe there's room for even more tooling that could possibly make running a site into something more similar to dynamic content of social media, but without all the associated baggage?
Idk, but I do feel rather excited about what I'm working on anyways, even if it doesn't expand into an entire frontier for smallweb stuff.

Kagi's Small Web just got a big upgrade! Introducing browser extensions, mobile apps and categories:
I could have written a memo, but instead I built a bookmarklet for adding products to the wishlist on my website.

My current hobbies are
- Finishing two songs
- Adding a million GIFs to my personal website
- making little lucky knots like my aunties taught me years ago
- wontons
- occasional game of Deadlock
Life is ok for now

This is a nice use of #WebOrigami to liberate photos from #Instagram and create a personal #smallweb site!
I was so disappointed when IG deprecated their Basic Display API last year because we can't have nice things, but (for now) they still let users export their own data
Origami is great for this sort of fetch-and-transform task
i have added a light theme to my website! i'm sorry it hasn't been there from the beginning.. due to how handpawcrafted some of the pages are, it took me two days
there's also a new drawing on the front page! hope it brings you some soft feelings..
Online conversations can spiral because strong emotions travel far.

I couldn’t help myself. I’ve made some more funky web buttons to adorn websites with!
They’re such fun to put together, and the size constraint presents a lovely challenge. If anyone has any requests, I’d be open to hearing them.

Really enjoying this album that I found recently. It is electronic music with a retro vibe and some of the talking clips sound like they are from Computer Chronicles. Very tastefully inserted in some songs.

I really like personal homepages and have quite a list of them bookmarked. I'll post one every week unless I fall behind this schedule. 😉 So here's Cool Personal Homepages #CPHP Vol. 63: "rtb.net" https://redthebean.net/

Edit: You people are amazing! There are so many sites linked below that it will take me quite a while to get through all of them. And I will get through all of them and reply to everyone.
No one can rightully say the (small) web is dead. It is not and you all and many many more are proof of that.

Ok, people, give me your blogs.
Your personal hobby blogs. Your e-zines. Your websites. Heck, even your wikis. (I am interested in those but have not yet wrapped my head around them.)
I am most interested in the hobby sites, made my non-professional web devs. The ones you code away at in your spare time. Preferably static, but share anyway if it's not. And if you're a pro and have a personal hobby site, share away too! The more the merrier.
Even if I already know your site, share anyway because there might be people who do not have come across it yet.

New blog post
Building your first smolweb page
A simple news article that takes ten seconds to load and eats 50 MB of data. You've seen that. We all have. Mountains of JavaScript, giant CSS frameworks, third-party trackers, custom fonts pulled from remote servers... all of that to display a few paragraphs of text.
The smolweb pushes back against that...

My Faves site has a new look, too! It should be totally mobile-friendly now~ 🎉
