Trying to answer the question "What kind of digital life I'd want from here onwards?" surely is going to be an interesting exercise, giving the current poor state of all things online. Yes, #Enshittification, I'm looking at you!
I've spent the last few days playing catch-up and one thing for sure is that, so far, I know the online places I wouldn't want to return back to.
From there onwards, I guess it's time to explore and figure out what's next!
Who knew that when deleting an account in the #Fediverse, in this case #Pixelfed, the content still remains available here in #Mastodon forever, apparently? Is that by design?
I just found out about it earlier on today when searching certain hashtags and finding tons of Pixelfed photos from a long-gone gram.social account I deleted back in December last year.
Hummm ... That's just not nice! 😤
What am I missing? 🤔
When thinking about starting from scratch my new online life I keep questioning what else would I need beyond these 3 initial social, digital tools:
- Blog (#Longform writing in a space I own = online home)
- #Mastodon (Micro-, Photo-blogging for social networking in the #Fediverse)
- Signal (Messaging & Chatting with close contacts, family & friends)
Somehow, I keep telling myself everything else sounds either redundant or unnecessary. Does it?
What am I missing? 🤔
