Villa Carmine was constructed around 1875 by Caterina Rainoldi for her daughters Isabella and Luigia, on land inherited from her husband. The house remained the property of Isabella, who got married in 1875, and then passed it on to her daughter Amalia. Around 1922, it was sold to Carmela Carmine, who lived with her children between Lugano and Milan. It was purchased by the municipality of Lugano in 1989.

Wild camping is apparently allowed in #Switzerland, but the restrictions are fairly draconian. One site says that camping is forbidden in:
- valleys
- inhabited areas
- forests
- floodplains
- wetlands
- areas close to mountain huts
- nature reserves and the Swiss National Park
- wild rest zones
- hunting ban areas
(And obviously you can't camp on agricultural land, they don't even bother mentioning that.)
Especially the very generic "valleys" and "forests" seem a bit annoying. What is left then, one wonders? Non-forested alpine plateaus that are not valleys? Is there any map service that would specifically show where it is allowed?
