I've finally rid of #meta apps from my #android phone. Now to sort out #google apps & find an alternative #Foss #os for my phone. Unfortunately these phone OS's are either too expensive to buy & use or unavailable for majority of phones out there. I'm already using #Foss app's to replace some of the Google app's.
I'm using @pixelfed instead of #instagram and obviously @Mastodon instead of #facebook. For emails, I've #thunderbird and for #maps I've #osmandapp. I use #fdroid instead of #playstore

Si comme moi vous n'aimez pas la bare latérale qu'ils ont lorsqu'on essaie d'accéder à l'un de leur site, du genre mail, il suffit de taper l'url de la page que l'on veut directement et ajouter `?ksuite-mode=main` à la fin.
Par exemple: https://mail.infomaniak.com/?ksuite-mode=main ouvre la page mail sans la bare latérale (mais s'il vous plaît, utilisez #thunderbird 🙏)

... und irgendwie scheint sich das nicht herum gesprochen zu haben, oder es ist den Konteninhabern total egal, ich weiß es nicht 🤷. Aktuelle Analyse, auf einem System von #eduBW, zeigt klar die Nutzung des "neuen Outlook", trotz Schulungsunterlagen auf #Thunderbird-Basis 😟.

Annoying to me has always been that the two don't talk to each other, and some QoL features missing. So now I am exploring #NewsBlur and #InoReader after reading that Pluralistic article. So far so good.
WHICH IS YOUR RSS READER OF CHOICE? Must work on Android & sync to an interface I can access through a browser.

#digitalindependence ist nicht so leicht wie erhofft.
#nextcloud App für Android und Windows bisher sehr wackelig.
#mailbox_org ohne Serienaufgaben, also die über nextcloud.
App suite auf Android ohne Benachrichtigungen. Musste also auf Email App (aktuell #emClient) und #tasks_org ausweichen. 2 Apps bzw. 3 mit #davx5 . Am Laptop #thunderbird .
Wie verführerisch sind doch die All-In-One Lösungen von den Großen.
Heute Umstieg auf #pop_os
Anfängliche Neugier wich "hoffentlich bald geschafft".
Ich bin so froh, daß meine Frau jeden Blödsinn von mir so mitmacht. Für sie war es normal, ein #smartphone zu kaufen, und die Apps zu nutzen, die darauf vorinstalliert waren. Ohne sich einen Kopf zu machen, daß es Alternativen gibt.
Seit 2 Jahren nutzt sie mein ausrangiertes Pixel 4a mit #iodé 7.2 das auf dem Stand Android 16 ist.

Finally removed #IPv6 #AAAA for my mail server so #Thunderbird uses IPv4 only. This IPv6 problem of Thunderbird really kills me.
Even I can access Sogo/Dovecot aso. from the same Workstation at the same time Thunderbird access it, Thunderbird hangs or is brutal slow.
In this case it is LAN to DMZ local without Internet, routed through pfSense. So no Internet, Routing, Tunnel, MTU or other stuff involved.
Happy to report that about a year after getting a mate to communicate using Signal instead of WhatsApp, we just today made the progression to securing our emails via pgp. 🥳
He was already using Thunderbird as his email client, and although just a few clicks it was a James Bond meets Bill Gates moment when we sent and received encrypted, signed emails to one another. 🤓

Ich benötige bitte einmal Unterstützung. Ich hatte in #Thunderbird ein #Gmail-Konto eingerichtet. Dieses Konto habe ich in der Zwischenzeit gelöscht und bin der Meinung auch in Thunderbird "alles" gelöscht zu haben. Jetzt bekomme ich in regelmäßigen Abständen (beim Start und auch später) die Meldung im Anhang. Ich habe gesucht aber keine Stelle gefunden die eine Einstellung zu diesem Konto zeigt. Mit #Thunderbird geht das inzwischen ganz gut, auch wenn es noch Verbesserungsbedarf in der Nutzerführung gibt.
Aber:
Wenn ich bei mir die PgP-Verschlüsselung eingerichtet habe, können dann meine Mailpartner meine Mails lesen/ entschlüsseln, wenn sie selber diese Verschlüsselung nicht eingerichtet haben?
Ich denke das ist eine berechtigte Frage, die mir da letztens von jemandem gestellt wurde, der erst jetzt beginnt, sich damit zu beschäftigen. Eine Demonstration, wie die Verschlüsselung ganz praktisch funktioniert, hat die Bedenken dann schnell zerstreut 😉
