I experience synesthesia. I get tonal “moods” (no melodies or chords, unfortunately) from shapes and colours, and abstract visual “art” from sounds. It works best when the input is abstract, hypnotic. If the music or art is telling a story, my left brain kicks in and it is over.

Ready to get 😵‍💫 hypnotised? Put headphones on, full screen the video and take a seven minute trip into my mind.

“Agamemnon” is a #techno #trance track originally intended to be a remix of the Limits of Perception track “Housetier”. At the time my wife made her role debut as Chrysothemis in Strauss’ #opera Elektra. I listened to and thought about the opera constantly for weeks. This influence resulted in the track ending up drastically different from the original mix!

if you listen to, make, or have a friend who makes electronic music that fits any of these descriptions:

- sounds like the early 2000s, especially if it's some kind of dnb, jungle, trance, or ambient
- nostalgic futurism that isn't dnb or ambient (and especially not synthwave!)
- sounds like racing game music from back when it was too good
- vaporwave but original (as in, not sample based) and not synthwave
- weird and wacky experimental electronica that can work in the background
- bass heavy but low intensity music that tickles the brain
- just really pretty and interesting ambient or drone stuff in general

please drop names and links here. aside from recommending stuff you like, by all means, plug yourself and your friends if you want to

I think these styles of music are amazing and rather underrated, especially since a lot of the people who like these styles are just playing random youtube mixes in the background, so they have no idea what they're actually listening to or who to support

I also find this kind of music annoyingly hard to discover, which isn't helped by those mixes either, because most of them are either drawing from the same small handful of artists, or just playing video game soundtracks

I want to change that, even if only a little bit. for that reason, please boost

aside from just hoping to spread this post around, I'd love to write about what I hear on my website eventually too, play it during livestreams with the titles on screen, and of course share it with all my non-fedi friends

I’m focused on learning and getting hands-on with #RaspberryPi at home and #cloud computing solutions both at work and at home.

I moved into a #SecurityEngineering role in 2020, so a lot of my focus is now more security focussed across all tech stacks.

My main focus at present when it comes to cloud is predominately #Microsoft #Azure, with Google and AWS of interest also, as well as other cloud infrastructure services such as those provided by CloudFlare, though I’m planning a move away from them due to their moral/ethical choices.

Away from work and tech, I love to #travel the world with my wife and enjoy very amateur #photography to record our adventures.

I also love most genres of #music, live in concert when I can, with a particular love of #Rock/ #Metal and also #Trance (coincidentally, given the profession of a somewhat more well known namesake of mine!).
