How did your interest in technology start? And have you always been interested in finding ways to combine tech and creative writing/art?
#WordWeavers Day 14: Is selling your work for money important to you when you write?
Would I like to be paid for what I write? Sure.
Do I expect to be paid? No.
#WritersCoffeeClub March 14: Do you think readers want new experiences in structure or narrative, or do they prefer what's familiar?
Both. I think it depends on the reader, each one is different. Some take comfort in what's familiar. Others seek out new ideas.
I'm re-starting this thread, bc I'm exhausting my abilities.
Does anyone know why my blog post had an AI tag added to it? I've been told Wordpress Yoast did it, but my AI settings on Yoast are already turned off. I'm told Mastodon has added that feature, but the privacy settings I'm supposed to turn off to eliminate it are already off.
I don't want to quit sharing my blog posts here, but I even less want wrong info attached to them.
I use the Raspberry Pi - inexpensive, single-board computers about the size of a credit card - for a number of things, including home automation, simple computing, retro gaming, and a host of hobby projects.
What's your favorite RPi project?
#WritersCoffeeClub 3/14. Do you think readers want new experiences in structure or narrative, or do they prefer what's familiar?
The vast majority want to read the same thing again, but different.
When the places you love no longer exist, you can describe them, but it isn't the same. #poetry #writing #writingcommunity #blog #sifaswriting

#WritersCoffeeClub Mar. 13: Talk about an experience when you consulted an expert for a piece of writing.
For a short story about a dentist, I asked my cousin (who is an actual dentist) about how she deals with difficult patients.
#WordWeavers Day 13: Tell us about a quirk your SC has.
Captain Trace doesn't drink, which is a quirk for an airship captain in his world.
#ScribesAndMakers Day13: Our featured creator writes both novels and short stories. How do you feel about short fiction? Do you read short stories as often as novels?
Yes. I have several volumes of short story collections from various authors. I find it easier to read them when I'm limited on time.
#ThursThreads Week 698 Winners blog is up. Congrats to FORTY-TWO TIME WINNER Bill Engleson and Honorable Mention Silver James. Great thanks to Katheryn J. Avila for judging this week. Check out the winning tale. #FlashFiction #Writing #WritingCommunity https://siobhanmuir.com/thursthreads-week-698-winners/
March is National Small Press Month!
I created Confluent Press as a focal point for Megan's and my books, acting as publisher for us both. We've released three books each so far, with many more to come, spanning several genres and many formats.
#WritersCoffeeClub Mar. 13: Talk about an experience when you consulted an expert for a piece of writing.
For #ZackJackson 2, I wrote the Hayden Planetarium and asked specific questions about unprotected exposure to the vacuum of space. I never received a response. :/
#WordWeavers Mar. 13: Tell us about a quirk your SC has.
By modern standards Markos is not quirky at all. By Ancient Greek standards, being a level-headed even-keeled professional soldier, he's probably quirky because he treats a teenage girl with respect, consideration, and believes she should choose her own destiny.

#ScribesAndMakers 3/13. Our featured creator writes both novels and short stories. How do you feel about short fiction? Do you read short stories as often as novels?
I can't write short. Literally can't. When I try the story just gets bigger. I haven't read short stories in years.
#WritersCoffeeClub 3/13. Talk about an experience when you consulted an expert for a piece of writing.
It may not be obvious but while I may be bi, I'm not a lesbian. 😆
So when I decided to write a romantasy featuring a lesbian MC I enlisted the help of a (very successful) lesbian writer.
Her only comment: "Moooaaar romance."
Dear reader, I did not include more romance.
Much earlier I wrote the Maliha Anderson books, Maliha is Anglo-Indian and consulted a friend writer who lives in India. Apart from suggesting changing a name (for regional reasons), apparently I got that right too.
People are always people.
#ThursThreads Week 698 is now CLOSED. Thanks to everyone who wrote this week and I hope to catch you next week. They're all yours, Katheryn. #FlashFiction #WritingCommunity #Writing https://siobhanmuir.com/thursthreads-tying-tales-together-week-698/
Great article by Cory Doctorow about "AI" and writing.
The points it makes are two. The first is that students using "AI" to write is a structural problem, not a lack-of-virtue problem. Big tech and teachers put the students in a position where they *almost* can't not use "AI" in some capacity. (1/2)

So, two revelations about my book in the last two days.
First, I actually made myself read some of my first draft yesterday, and it's not nearly as janky and disjointed as I'd feared. I don't in fact have to rewrite it from scratch, thank baby Superman. (I got halfway through it about a year ago and was so horrified that I haven't touched it since, but I think I'm finally ready to get back in.)
