I made another batch of my Intro to #CreativeCoding #Zines (lines, squares, circles) for a good friend’s birthday and although I already noticed some things to improve — duplicate text across the different zines, takes quite a long time to plot with my #PenPlotter — I had a lot of fun again making them.

Experimental 4 Colour CMYK plot with each colour being built with a different conversion technique:

Yellow: fast marching method contours
Cyan: strips where lines bunch up in darker areas
Magenta: halftone dots made from spirals
Black: large spirals where multiple lines spread apart for darker areas

The pens are random fibre tip markers I found, they worked ok but the colours aren't really right. Also the pen shifted on yellow so there's a bit without enough colour

I have finally put this #penplotter back on track... The ribbon cable was damaged when we bought it secondhand. But this cable was to old and I couldn't find a replacement.
I replaced it with gigantic jumper wires, their width was matching exactly the slot! Just so lucky sometimes 😅

Then I had a lot of connection issues, but now I finally notes down the right software settings and can plot directly from @inkscape

Being in a #textile #fablab, this will serve mainly to draw sewing patterns on A0 and avoid people to make a montage of A4 sheets.

Feb. '26 print set

Adding silkscreening into the toolbox has been on my list for a while but the process of burning screens has always been a hurdle with the home studio setup. Using heat transfer vinyl in lieu of emulsion really makes it much more accessible.
